LAN APPOINTS THE WALSHE GROUP TO LAUNCH SALES PRESENCE IN SINGAPORE

LAN, one of the largest airline groups in South America, is expanding its presence in Asia, appointing The Walshe Group to develop sales activity in Singapore.
The appointment, effective from January 2010, follows LAN’s successful launch of offline sales activities in Japan, South Korea, China and Hong Kong, where demand is strong and bookings are growing for travel to and within South America.
“The Asia Pacific region is the world’s fastest growing market for the air transport industry, and is a market which we want to develop,” said Rodrigo Contreras, LAN’s General Manager Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
“We are already achieving excellent sales in north Asian markets, and the next step in our strategy is to build our presence within South East Asia,” said Mr Contreras.
“Singapore is a natural and essential addition to our sales network in the region, providing not only a strong market in its own right, but excellent opportunities for travellers to make onward connections to ports such as Sydney, Auckland and Los Angeles where we have a strong online presence,” he said.
“We have chosen The Walshe Group to assist us not only in entering the Singapore market but in achieving steady sales growth from South East Asia to destinations throughout South America.”
LAN, a member of the oneworld airline alliance, serves more than 50 destinations within South America, through gateway cities including Santiago (Chile), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Lima (Peru).
The airline flies daily from Sydney, Auckland and Los Angeles to Santiago, and from Los Angeles to Lima, and will continue to open new routes to South America in 2010.
LAN was named Best Airline in South America in both the 2008 and 2009 global Skytrax awards for airline excellence, and Best Airline in Central/South America and the Caribbean at the 2009 Airline Industry Awards presented by Official Airline Guide (OAG).
In Singapore, LAN will be based at the office of The Walshe Group, #04-322 The Plaza, 7500 Beach Road.
