General Information
Hawaii has seen a 38% increase in visitor numbers from Australia (up 44%) and New Zealand
(up 11%) since assignment of the new Global Contracting Agreement between the Hawaii Tourism
Authority and The Walshe Group at the end of 2003.
Hawaii Tourism Oceania’s role is to promote the beautiful and dynamic destination of Hawaii to
Australia and New Zealand. The marketing thrust is based around four key objectives.
- Support current airlift and explore new opportunities for increased lift through raising consumer brand
awareness and creating consumer demand.
- Increase travel agents' and consumers’ destination knowledge through targeted promotional activity,
specialist training and media efforts.
- Increase visitor’s length of stay by showcasing the Islands, the activities, the host culture
and highlighting Hawaii’s unique selling points.
- Stimulate high spending visitors, through the targeted segments of niche markets, selected
hotel groups and through the positioning of Hawaii as a dual - purpose destination (business & leisure combined).
